Summit of Asia-Pacific News Agencies Opens in Seoul

A summit meeting of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) opened Thursday in Seoul.

Attending the three-day event are some 90 CEOs and representatives of 44 newswire companies from 35 countries worldwide.

Seoul-based Yonhap News Agency and OANA are cohosting the event to commemorate the agency’s 30-year anniversary.

The delegates will discuss strategies for news agencies in the age of new media under the theme "Challenges and opportunities for news agencies."

In addition, the delegates will tour Korean mobile telecommunication infrastructure providers including WiBro, a wireless broadband Internet technology developed by the South Korean telecom industry.
