US: NK Provocations Impact Broader Environment

The U.S. says it is still committed to reviving the six-party nuclear talks despite suspicions over North Korea's involvement in last month’s sinking of South Korea’s “Cheonan” naval ship.

State Department spokesman Philip Crowley said Wednesday that he wouldn't necessarily link the six-party process and the probe into the Cheonan’s sinking and that the U.S. wants to see North Korea come back to the multilateral denuclearization dialogue.

He said that although Washington is committed to the talks with its partners, provocative actions that North Korea takes have an impact on the broader environment.

He said the investigation on the ship sinking continues and conclusions will be drawn based on what the investigation uncovers.

He added that the U.S. won't make any assumptions at this point.
