Lee to Head to Shanghai Friday

President Lee Myung-bak will be in Shanghai on Friday and Saturday for talks with Chinese President Hu Jintao and to attend the opening of the World Expo.

Lee will begin his trip by visiting the building that housed Korea’s provisional government during Japan’s colonial rule over Korea and a memorial hall built in memory of independence fighter Yoon Bong-gil. Both are located in Shanghai.

At the summit with Hu, Lee is expected to discuss ways to advance their bilateral relationship into a strategic partnership and other key regional issues.

Lee will then attend the opening ceremony for the 2010 Expo Shanghai China.

On Saturday, Lee will take part in a ceremony marking the launch of the event’s Korean exhibition hall, the largest ever to be set up by South Korea. He will also tour the Korea Business Pavilion, which will showcase 12 major conglomerates.
