UNSC Urges NK to Comply with Nuke Talks Agreement

The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is urging North Korea to agree to return to the six-party denuclearization talks.

The council --- comprised of the U.S., China, the U.K., France, and Russia --- expressed its strong support for the six-party framework in a statement released at the eighth Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT) Review Conference. The conference is being held at U.N. headquarters in New York from May third to May 28th.

The five nations expressed their wishes for an agreeable resolution to the North Korean nuclear issue through diplomatic means, saying that the September 19th, 2005 joint statement agreed upon during the six-party talks supports the complete and verifiable denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
