A train carrying North Korean leader Kim Jong-il that left Beijing on Thursday afternoon has yet to arrive in China’s border city of Dandong.

According to sources in the area, the special train carrying the reclusive leader has yet to arrive in Dandong, which borders North Korea. The sources said no special movements to tighten security have been spotted near Dandong Station or near the Amnok River Bridge into the North.

Sources familiar with North Korean affairs say Kim could make stops in other areas of China before returning home.

Other sources in Dandong raised the possibility of Kim visiting the Chinese port city of Yingkou in Liaoning Province, as the reclusive leader had reportedly mentioned the city shortly before he made his visit to Beijing.

However, Kim is expected to return home sometime Friday, as a hotel near Amnok River was told on Thursday to evict all its guests before Friday morning.
