US Urges NK to Meet Obligations, Cease Provocations

The United States has urged North Korea to meet its international obligations and cease provocative actions.

State Department spokesman Philip Crowley Friday made the remarks when asked to comment on the North Korea-China summit talks in Beijing earlier this week.

On North Korean leader Kim Jong-il's remark that he wants to cooperate in moving toward the six-party talks' resumption, Crowley reiterated the U.S. wants to see if North Korea lives up to its commitments, adding that that is Washington's focus.

Crowley also said that China provided a readout on Kim's meeting with President Hu Jintao to a U.S. embassy minister in Beijing.
