Japan to Compensate 299 Korean Victims of Atomic Bombs

A number of Koreans who suffered from the aftereffects of the atomic bombs dropped on Japan during the Second World War will be compensated by the Japanese government.

Japan’s Kyodo News reported that 299 Koreans who suffered from irradiation in Japan but were denied compensation because they returned to South Korea have, after filing a suit, reached an agreement on compensation with the Japanese government.

Japan, in line with the agreement, will give each victim one-point-one million Japanese yen, or 13-point-four million Korean won.
