Clinton, Dai Bingguo Discuss Cheonan

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo spoke on the phone Wednesday night on issues related to Kim Jong-il’s recent visit to China and developments in South Korea’s investigation into the sinking of the “Cheonan” vessel.

State Department spokesman Philip Crowley says the two discussed for over an hour Kim’s trip to China and the political ramifications of the results of South Korea's investigation into the sinking of the Cheonan.

Crowley said the Chinese councilor gave Clinton more insight into the North Korean leader’s visit.

The two also talked on the phone April 29th apparently to coordinate bilateral stances before the Cheonan investigation results are announced.
