Japan’s Kyodo News is reporting that the United Nations (U.N.) is considering sending a high-level delegation to North Korea in late May to study the food situation there.

The news agency quoted sources close to the U.N. as saying that should such a delegation be sent, it would mainly be comprised of United Nations Central Emergency Response Fund officials.

Kyodo News cited the sources as saying that the possible visit to North Korea appears to be part of preparations for a visit by U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to North Korea.
