S.Korea, Bangladesh Agree to Increase Exchanges

The leaders of South Korea and Bangladesh met and agreed Tuesday to step up efforts to promote cooperation in all areas.

Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and President Lee Myung-bak agreed to steadily increase bilateral exchanges in governmental, political, military, cultural and nongovernmental areas. They also agreed to step up cooperation in investment, technology transfers, energy and social overhead capital. In addition, they agreed to address trade imbalances and increase trade volume.

Hasina expressed gratitude for the South Korean aid her nation has received and asked for more support in human resource development. In response, Lee said he would continue Korea’s economic and social development support for Bangladesh.

The two leaders also agreed to support the energy resource development partnership between a South Korean consortium and a Bangladeshi state-run energy company.
