Russia says it will send a team of experts to South Korea for a review of the probe results on the sinking of the “Cheonan” naval vessel.

The Russian government said in a statement Thursday that Russian President Dmitry Medvedev accepted South Korea’s proposal to send a team of experts to verify the investigation results.

The Russian president said that determining the exact cause of the sinking and those responsible is extremely important.

He asked all concerned countries to exercise self-control for the sake of peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula, adding that Russia is ready to closely cooperate with all related parties in dealing with the matter.

Russia did not elaborate on when the team will be dispatched.
