Overseas Events to Mark Korean War Anniversary

South Korea will begin international events on Tuesday to commemorate those who served in the Korean War.

The 60th Anniversary of the Korean War Commemoration Committee says the events signify South Korea’s gratitude and respect for those who fought in the Korean War as part of United Nations troops.

The first such events will open in the Netherlands at the post of the Regiment Van Heutsz, which was an infantry regiment that participated in the Korean War, with veterans and Dutch government officials invited.

As for the U.S., the committee plans to hold the event on July 26th at the United States Capitol in Washington, where the decision to send U.S. troops to the Korean War was made.
