Former North Korean agent Kim Hyun-hee met with the parents of Megumi Yokota on Thursday in Japan. Yokota was kidnapped by North Korea in 1977.

The parents told reporters that although Kim did not provide any unknown information about their daughter, the meeting increased their hope that their daughter is alive.

According to the parents, Kim confirmed that she had indeed met with Yokota while in the communist state.
