Radio Free Asia (RFA) says North Korea will convene a meeting of the top members of its Workers’ Party on Saturday.

The Washington-based broadcaster said the North is on high alert due to the meeting, which, if held, would be the first of its kind in 44 years.

The broadcaster said that North Korean authorities have canceled a four-day nationwide wartime evacuation exercise without explanation.

It also quoted a North Korean source as saying that Pyongyang has ordered all people who are on trips to the capital to return home.
