Russian military experts have reportedly completed an independent investigation into the sinking of the "Cheonan" naval vessel and submitted their probe results to Russia's national security council.

Quoting a source in Russia, a local media outlet reported that the sinking was probably caused by a strong shock to the hull.

The source said that analysis results and conclusions by the Russian experts will soon be delivered to South Korea through a diplomatic channel.

A four-member team visited South Korea for a week in June and analyzed the materials and evidence collected by the military-civilian joint probe team that investigated the sinking of the Cheonan.
