UK Expects FTA to Boost Whisky Exports to Korea

The Internet edition of the BBC has reported that the Scotch whisky industry will benefit if the free trade agreement between South Korea and the European Union is enacted.

The BBC says Korea is the world's seventh largest whisky importer with imports of 112 million pounds or about 200 billion won last year.

The report said that if the 20 percent import tariff is lifted within three years of the FTA taking effect, imports will increase.

The BBC notes that Scotch whisky comprises less than one percent of the Korean liquor market and therefore has high growth potential.
