Report: Kim Jong-un Described as Leader in Training Manual

A leading Japanese daily says North Korea is set to confirm that leader Kim Jong-il’s third son, Jong-un, will be the successor to his father.

The Mainichi Shimbun said Monday that it took photographs in July of a training manual used by the Workers’ Party of Korea in Pyongyang. The paper said that the manual described Jong-un as “the leader of the people with noble virtue.”

The manual reportedly ordered party members to be confident in informing people around the world that Kim Jong-un is Kim Jong-il’s heir. The Mainichi said the manual suggests that Jong-un is expected to be officially anointed as the successor to his father soon.

Reports suggest that Jong-un may be officially named heir when top delegates of the North’s ruling party convene for a conference in Pyongyang on Tuesday.
