Taiwanese President Ma Ying-jeou says he hopes that his country and South Korea can sign a bilateral economic accord in the future.

In a meeting with visiting South Korean lawmaker Joo Ho-young, Ma said Tuesday that Taiwan and South Korea should study the possibility of signing an economic treaty.

He also hoped that a direct flight route linking South Korea’s Gimpo Airport and Taiwan’s Taipei SongShan Airport will be created to help boost economic exchanges and tourism between the two countries.

Ma said ties between the two nations have improved significantly due to bilateral exchanges in various sectors.
