Lee Holds Summits with Japanese, Australian Leaders

President Lee Myung-bak, who is visiting Brussels in Belgium, has held a series of bilateral talks where he discussed the G20 summit to be held November in Seoul and cooperation in international issues.

On Monday afternoon, Lee met with Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan and discussed South Korea-Japan relations and issues regarding North Korea.

The two leaders said they would make joint efforts to create future-oriented bilateral relations and to collaborate closely on Northeast Asian political matters, including those regarding North Korea.

Lee then held his first summit with Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard, during which they discussed the development of bilateral ties, the North Korean issue, and cooperation for the G20 summit.

Thereafter, Lee will attend the eighth ASEM Summit, which launches Monday night, and deliver a speech at the first plenary.
