Obama: Asia Tour to Focus on Opening Markets, Exports

U.S. President Barack Obama says his tour of Asia starting this weekend will focus on opening markets and expanding exports for American products.

Obama made the remark in a news conference at the White House on the U.S. midterm election results that saw the Republicans take control of the House of Representatives.

He said his tour of Asia later this week revolves around how to open more Asian markets, sell more U.S. products and create more jobs at home for U.S. companies to flourish.

Regarding the Republican victory in the elections, Obama said that he will be open to ideas from both sides of the partisan line in terms of finding policies that create jobs and drive down unemployment.

Obama’s tour of Asia, which starts Friday, will bring him to India, Indonesia, South Korea and Japan.
