Ruling and opposition parties are expressing hopes that the ongoing G20 summit in Seoul will be a success.

Ruling Grand National Party (GNP) chairman Ahn Sang-soo said Thursday that he hopes significant results are reaped on the agendas addressed at the summit, with a particular emphasis on the creation of a global financial safety net.

Main opposition Democratic Party (DP) chairman Sohn Hak-kyu also offered his wishes for a successful summit, adding that South Korea should do all it can to use the gathering as an opportunity for national gain.

Liberty Forward Party chairman Lee Hoi-chang expressed in a statement his hopes that the G20 summit will facilitate a quick and comprehensive recovery from the global economic crisis.
