The crew of South Korea’s “Samho Dream” oil tanker that was released by Somali pirates last Saturday after 217 days in captivity is expected to return home as early as this weekend.

The ship’s 24 crew members, including five South Koreans, arrived at Salalah Port in Oman on Thursday after being escorted there by a vessel from the South Korean Navy’s “Cheonghae” antipiracy unit.

After arriving in Oman, the crew underwent medical examinations and none were found to have any health problems.

The South Korean sailors will travel to Muscat, the capital of Oman, on Friday before heading home.
