U.S. media outlets are saying that the U.S. gained nothing at the latest G20 Summit, which ended on Friday in Seoul.
U.S. news outlets including the Associated Press said that during the two-day global gathering, the U.S. failed to persuade other countries to introduce current account guidelines and to reach an agreement in additional trade talks with South Korea.
They expressed concerns about the weakening leadership of the U.S., calling the summit a defeat forU.S. President Barack Obama who faced severe criticism from other countries for his administration’s monetary policy of quantitative easing.
According to U.S. media, China successfully fended off international pressure to appreciate its currency at the G20 Seoul Summit, and Germany and Russia achieved their goals in Seoul as well.
Germany saw the current account guideline proposal aborted at the summit, while Russia successfully sold the idea of reforming international financial organizations and creating a new system for sustainable global economic growth.
