A local civic group is urging Japan to return Korean cultural assets other than the ones it has already vowed to give back to South Korea.

The group, which is working for the return of such assets from abroad, said Monday that it hopes that the recent agreement between Seoul and Tokyo on Japan's returning Korean cultural properties will lead to additional returns of such assets.

The group said that Japan took not only Korean books but also structures and Buddhist sculptures and paintings, most of which are stored in national museums and universities.
