Japan to Review Request for Working Holiday Expansion

Japan has agreed to review a request by South Korea to raise the quota for the number of South Koreans who can travel to Japan on working holiday visas.

The Foreign Ministry in Seoul said that although the program was scheduled to be expanded in 2012, the government is seeking to move up the date in order to meet demand.

South Korea is seeking to have the quota increased from 72-hundred to ten-thousand.

The working holiday visa program allows young people to get temporary jobs while traveling in a foreign country.
