US to Seek Unified Response to NK Attack

The United States says it will seek a unified response to North Korea’s artillery attack against South Korea’s Yeonpyeong Island on Tuesday.

State Department deputy spokesman Mark Toner told reporters Wednesday that the U.S. will work with China and other partners to the six-way nuclear talks on the North's provocation. He added that the U.S. is going to take “a measured and unified approach.”

Toner added that North Korea's recent behavior has been provocative and belligerent, reiterating that the U.S. is not going to buy into a cycle of rewarding such behavior by conceding to North Korean demands.
