A Japanese daily says the Philippines is considering relocating 50-thousand of its nationals from South Korea to Japan should tensions mount further on the Korean Peninsula.

According to the Yomiuri Shimbun Saturday, Philippine President Benigno Aquino said he is considering having Philippine nationals in South Korea take refuge in Japan due to its proximity. He said it would take too much time to transport them from South Korea back to the Philippines.

The Philippine Foreign Ministry has reportedly already begun consultations with Japan on the matter.
