The International Herald Tribune (IHT) highlighted South Korea's quick economic recovery in an article published Thursday.

In an article titled “Lessons Learned, South Korea Makes Quick Economic Recovery,” the tribune said that in contrast to the economic conditions in the U.S. and Europe, business has quickly rebounded in South Korea.
The article stressed the importance of the nation’s ability to adjust to hard times after having survived an even worse downturn --- the Asian financial crisis of 1997.

The article said South Korea’s capacity to emerge from not one but two debilitating financial crises without prolonged stagnation is drawing attention in a world that needs economic role models.

The article says that one lesson the U.S. can take from South Korea is to avoid relying too much on stimulus spending and to make painful structural changes so the economy can find its natural bottom and resume growth.
