The U.S. says it is working with China to assist in resolving the North Korean issue.

National Security Council spokesman Mike Hammer told the Foreign Press Club in New York that Washington is working with Beijing to try to deliver the message that North Korea needs to act in a responsible way and show that it is committed to the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

He urged North Korea to end its provocations, saying that no rewards will be offered for Pyongyang’s bad behavior and that North Korea will be further isolated if it fails to meet the expectations of the international community.

He said that consideration should be given to the possibility of talks between South and North Korea.
