A Japanese daily says Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy S smartphones are performing well in Japan in terms of market share.

Japan’s Sankei Shimbun said Friday that Galaxy S phones accounted for 35-point-eight percent of the total sales of smartphones by the Japanese mobile operator NTT Docomo.

The figure is higher than Sharp’s 30-point-seven percent share and Toshiba’s 20-point-five percent share. However, both firms began selling smartphones via NTT Docomo only last month, or around two months later than Samsung.

The daily was quoting market survey results by the Japanese market research firm BCN.
NTT Docomo is the predominant mobile phone operator in Japan.
