Steinberg Likely to Visit Seoul next Week

U.S. Deputy Secretary of State James Steinberg is expected to visit South Korea next week to brief Seoul on the results of Wednesday’s U.S.-China summit.

A South Korean government source says that Seoul and Washington are currently coordinating his itinerary.

The source says that while in Seoul, Steinberg will coordinate the framework for resuming the stalled six-party denuclearization talks and the direction of inter-Korean dialogue.

Steinberg visited China and Japan in mid-December last year and mulled a visit to South Korea before putting it on hold in order to prepare for the U.S.-China summit.
