S.Korea's Internet Connection Ranked Fastest Globally

South Korea's Internet connection has been ranked the fastest in the world by the U.S. magazine “Fortune.”

South Korea topped the magazine’s list, with connection speeds of 14 megabits per second (Mbps) followed by Hong Kong at nine-point-two Mbps, Japan at eight-point-five Mbps and Romania at seven Mbps.

According to the magazine, South Korea's Internet connection was seven times faster than the global average of one-point-nine Mbps as of late September.

Despite coming in first, Fortune says South Korea was the only country among the top ten on the list to see a drop in its connection speed. It attributed the decrease to a jump in the number of South Koreans who access the Web on mobile devices.
