Obama Addresses NK Nukes, FTA Ratification in Annual Speech

U.S. President Barack Obama urged North Korea to promise to scrap its nuclear weapons program in his State of the Union address in Washington on Wednesday.

Obama said during speech that the U.S. insists that “North Korea keeps its commitment to abandon nuclear weapons.”

He also called for the swift ratification of the South Korea-U.S. free trade agreement, asking Congress to pass the trade pact “as soon as possible.”

Obama said the trade deal will support at least 70-thousand American jobs and that the agreement has "unprecedented support from business and labor as well as Democrats and Republicans."
