China says that it consistently supports the inter-Korean dialogue.

During a Thursday briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu was asked to assess the inter-Korean working-level defense talks that were held on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The spokesman responded that as the two Koreas have begun dialogue and contact, the talks should play a constructive role towards peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.

He also confirmed a meeting in Beijing between South Korean nuclear envoy Wi Sung-lac and his Chinese counterpart Wu Dawei. The envoy is visiting Beijing to discuss the North Korean nuclear issue.
