Obama Urges for Investment in Wireless Services

U.S. President Barack Obama has stressed the need for his country to invest in expanding wireless coverage.

Speaking at Northern Michigan University on Thursday, Obama said that through high-speed wireless service, the U.S. can spark new innovation, new investment and new jobs.

He noted that currently, more than 90 percent of homes in South Korea have access to high-speed broadband, while the figure sits at just 65 percent in the U.S.

During his State of the Union Address last month, Obama unveiled plans for the “Wireless Innovation and Infrastructure Initiative” that aims to make available high-speed wireless services to at least 98 percent of Americans.
