A South Korean company’s construction site in Libya has again been raided by a group of locals.

The Foreign Ministry said Friday that some 200 Libyans raided a construction site of a South Korean company in the northeastern city of Darnah at around 12:30 a.m. Thursday, local time. The ministry said that some 100 of them are still at the site.

An official of the South Korean builder said no conflicts have emerged with the Libyans, but added that the company suffered property damage after a warehouse for building materials burned down during the raid.

The same Korean company is estimated to have suffered damage of 15 to 20 billion won from a raid by locals last month.

A Foreign Ministry official said that like the raid that occurred last month, the recent raid is likely to have resulted from strong opposition by poor, homeless people to the Libyan government’s housing policies.
