The United States has reportedly completed the Operations Plan (OPLAN) 8010-08 to provide nuclear deterrence for its allies.
The Federation of American Scientists says the war plan stipulates the U.S. provide nuclear or conventional forces for its allied partners if they are attacked by potential adversaries.
The OPLAN, adopted in February 2008, named Russia, China, North Korea, Iran and Syria as its potential adversaries.
The 8010-08 contains a plan that the U.S. will provide its allies with nuclear umbrella, intercontinental ballistic missiles and conventional weapons within one hour after its allies are attacked by adversaries.
Under the plan, if signs of the North's nuclear attack are detected, the U.S. will launch precision attack on the North's nuclear facilities, weapons of mass destruction and the military leadership and major infrastructure, using its forces at the strategic command in Nebraska, Omaha as well as conventional weapons of U.S. forces stationed in Korea.
