South Korean residents in Japan are being evacuated from areas near damaged nuclear facilities or are returning to South Korea amid concerns about a nuclear catastrophe.
The Seoul government has prepared vehicles and flights in order to evacuate the South Koreans from dangerous areas.
An additional number of flights are being operated between Incheon International Airport and Narita International Airport.
The South Korean Consulate General in Sendai and Seoul's swift response team in Japan have evacuated some 270 South Koreans via automobiles, and that only a dozen people remain at the consulate.
The Foreign Ministry will continue to support the response team’s transport of Koreans who wish to evacuate dangerous areas.
Meanwhile the British, Swiss and German governments have advised their people in northeastern Japan and Toyko to flee the areas in consideration of the nuclear power crisis in Fukushima.
