US Urges NK to Take Concrete Actions

The United States says it is still looking for concrete actions by North Korea which show that it has changed its behavior.

State Department deputy spokesman Mark Toner told reporters Thursday that the U.S. wants to see Pyongyang take concrete steps, including pursuing the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and living up to its related commitments.

He also asked Pyongyang to work to take active steps to improve the bilateral relationship with South Korea. Toner said all such measures are important steps that the U.S. wants to see North Korea take, adding that the U.S. will not engage in talks just for talks’ sake.

Toner made the remarks after being asked to comment on the North’s recent proposal to discuss its uranium enrichment program at the six-way nuclear talks and not at the U.N. Security Council.
