S.Korea Dispatches Expert to Protect Relief Workers

The Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety announced Friday that it has dispatched radiation safety expert Dr. Jang Jae-gwon to ensure adequate safety levels for its emergency relief workers in areas near a damaged Japanese nuclear facility.

The institute said Jang will take measures to prevent the workers from being exposed to dangerous levels of radiation.

A total of 107 South Korean emergency relief workers are in Japan to assist in efforts to help the island nation recover from last week’s earthquake.

They are at work near Sendai, 120 kilometers from the Fukushima nuclear power plant, which is leaking radiation after being damaged.
