Foreign media report that multinational forces appeared to have launched a second attack on the Libyan capital Tripoli early Monday morning Korea time.

Media reports cite sounds of antiaircraft fire and machine guns being heard.

The United States is known to have mobilized 19 fighter-bombers in the attack, including three Stealth jets and the F-15 and F-16 fighter jets.

U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Admiral Mike Mullen has said the military action on Libya by the multinational forces is not to chase out Libyan leader Muammar Gadhafi, but rather to protect the Libyan people.

The allied forces estimate that immediately after Operation Odyssey Dawn began, U.S. and British forces incapacitated some 20 Libyan air defense sites by striking them with 110 Tomahawk missiles.
