Reuters: Miniscule Radioactive Particles from Fukushima Found in Europe

Reuters says miniscule numbers of radioactive particles believed to have come from Japan's Fukushima nuclear power plant have been detected as far away as Iceland.

The report quoted diplomatic sources as stressing Tuesday that the tiny traces, measured by a network of international monitoring stations as they spread eastwards from Japan across the Pacific to North America and Europe, were far too low to cause any harm to humans.

The Icelandic Radiation Safety Authority said that it was “very surprised” about the fact that such particles were in found in Iceland.

The report noted that last week, the U.S. Energy Department and the Environmental Protection Agency confirmed "miniscule" amounts of radiation that appeared to have come from Japan's damaged reactors were detected in California.
