US: No New Plans on Talks with NK

The U.S. State Department says that it maintains ordinary contact with North Korea but is not pursuing any new plans for dialogue with the communist state.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had said earlier in an interview with Japan's Fuji Television that there's an effort to try to get North and South Korea to communicate with each other. She said the U.S. has ongoing contact, as does every country with North Korea, on certain issues.

Referring to Clinton's words, Spokesman for the U.S. State Department, Mark Toner told reporters that there's "nothing really to announce" on any planned meeting with North Korean officials.

Washington and Pyongyang maintains regular contact through the New York channel of the North Korean Representative to the U.N.
