US, NK Officials Holding Private Forum in Southern Germany

A closed-door forum between U.S. and North Korean officials began in southern Germany on Monday, local time.

The officials reportedly met at an ancient castle near Munich where access by outsiders is not easily granted. It is reported that they shared views on the North’s denuclearization and arms reduction as well as normalization of North Korea-U.S. ties among other ways to ease tensions on the Korean Peninsula.

The recent forum was organized by the U.S.-based Aspen Institute’s branch office in Germany.

Six North Korean officials as well as former senior U.S. government officials and Korean Peninsula affair experts are taking part in the forum that will end on Tuesday.
