Groups to Help Korean Quake Victims in Japan

South Koreans are organizing their efforts to help Korean quake victims in Japan.

A volunteer group aimed at supporting Korean quake victims in Japan told a news conference on Friday that a vessel carrying 50 tons of relief supplies provided by the Korea Shipowners' Association has departed from Busan Port on Friday and will arrive in Yokohama in four or five days.

Once the shipment arrives in Japan, the supply of rice, blankets, dried seaweed and water will be distributed to Korean nationals in Miyagi, Iwate and Fukushima prefectures.

The group in Japan that will convey the aid is composed of the pro-Seoul Korean Residents Union in Japan, better known as Mindan, an association of South Korean companies and other organizations operating in Japan.
