NK Bans N.Koreans from Using the Internet

North Korea has reportedly banned North Korean people working at the North Korean branches of international nongovernmental organizations from using the Internet.

According to Japan’s Asahi Shimbun, North Korean authorities warned international NGOs of possible disadvantages they would face if they fail to keep their North Korean employees away from the Internet.

North Korea has strengthened its monitoring of North Koreans who have access to foreign Web sites and workers at the Gaeseong Industrial Complex.

The North Korean regime is known to be tightening its grip on public access to the Internet and the release of information since the eruption of pro-democracy movements in Africa and the Middle East.
