Japan Weather Agency: Radioactive Materials to Reach Korea Thurs.

The Japan Meteorological Agency made a forecast on its Web site that radioactive materials leaked from the Fukushima power plant, will affect South Korea, although the traces will be minuscule.

The agency posted this forecast data on the spread of radioactive materials. It predicts that substances leaked from the power plant on Monday are expected to reach South Korea some time Thursday.

It forecasts that one quadrillionth becquerel of the materials per cubic meter will land in southern Korean Peninsula including the Jeolla provinces. Then, an amount one hundred times smaller than that will land in the central region.

The data has been put together at the request of the International Atomic Energy Agency. It's the first time to be confirmed by a Japanese government agency that radioactive materials can reach the Korean Peninsula through air.
