Another Powerful Earthquake Hits Japan's Miyagi Prefecture

A powerful seven-point-four-magnitude earthquake was detected in waters off Japan’s Miyagi Prefecture at around 11:32 p.m. Thursday.

Japanese broadcaster NHK and Kyodo News say, two people are believed to have died due to the quake while some 130 suffered injuries.

The epicenter of the recent quake, which shook buildings in Tokyo, is estimated to be 38-point-two degrees north latitude and 142 degrees east latitude, with a depth presumed to stand at 40 kilometers.

The countermeasures center at Sendai city in Miyagi Prefecture said that a large number of people were transported to the Sendai Municipal Hospital.

Due to the strongest and latest aftershock since the devastating earthquake last month, the entire region of Iwate Prefecture saw a blackout while some regions saw ruptured pipelines.

Operations of trains were also suspended on the Tohoku Shinkansen line which connects Tokyo with the Tohoku region.
