China's official Xinhua News Agency says that a North Korean freighter sank near Bangladesh on Thursday local time.

All 31 members aboard the ship endured no harm as they were immediately transferred to another boat following the incident.

Xinhua says the vessel went under water near Chittagong Port, some 240 kilometers southeast of the Bangladeshi capital of Dhaka.

The ship reportedly clashed with a merchant vessel the previous day and has been sinking gradually.

The boat was carrying over 13-thousand tons of rice.
