China Calls for Resumption of Nuke Talks

China is urging the nations involved in the six-way nuclear talks to collaborate on creating conditions conducive to resuming the stalled nuclear dialogue.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei told reporters on Tuesday that North Korea’s chief nuclear envoy Kim Kye-kwan was in China, where he held in-depth discussions on North Korea-China relations, Korean Peninsula issues, and the six-party denuclearization talks.

In addition, although the six-way talks are currently stalled, Hong stressed that China has been closely yet consistently debating with and contacting other nations to bring them back to the negotiating table.

Hong added that Kim met with China’s Foreign Minister Yang Jieche and chief nuclear envoy Wu Dawei during his trip.
